A holistic approach to medicine that addresses the root causes of illness and promotes health and healing using natural treatment options.

Naturopathic Medicine is a system of medicine based in the belief that your body has an innate ability to heal itself. It emphasizes prevention, evidence-based treatment options, and optimal health. Naturopathic Doctors treat holistically by focusing on the dynamic function of the body as a whole system - considering how diet, habits, thought patterns, stress, social factors, and environment influence our health and wellbeing.

Naturopathic Medicine uses the healing power of self and natural resources, while integrating standard medical diagnostics. Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) undergo 4 years of post-graduate medical education, focusing on addressing the root cause of disease and addressing concerns with natural treatment methods. NDs in Manitoba are regulated by the Manitoba Naturopathic Association to ensure competent standards of practice and safety to our community. Today more than ever, Canadians are utilizing Naturopathic Medicine within their healthcare practices, in collaboration with conventional medicine to optimize their health.

Naturopathic Doctors are trained with a large toolbox of treatment options which includes clinical nutrition, lifestyle counselling, supplementation with natural health products, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, hydrotherapy, acupuncture and cupping therapy. Treatment recommendations are based on the most current scientific literature, while incorporating healing traditions that have been passed down through generations. This array of treatment options allows NDs to meet each patient where they are at, and provide knowledge from a variety of medical practices to help each individual reach their goals.

If you're looking for a natural approach to healthcare — Dr. Jasmine’s treatments can be tailored to your needs. She has a wide range of services and therapies to support your unique goals. Diet is a foundational determinant of health, and is addressed with every patient as a staple in their ongoing care for optimal health and prevention of disease. Clinical nutrition strategically supports the body with recommendations of particular foods or eating habits for their clinical benefit, based on scientific literature.

Dr. Jasmine assesses food sensitivities/intolerances, nutrient deficiencies, and dietary imbalances to help optimize and maintain health.

Lifestyle counselling considers how your habits, sleep, exercise, stress, environment, occupation, mental attitude and emotional state may be impacting your health and wellbeing. Modifications to your routine can ease low-grade repeated stress, which may be contributing to your symptoms and encourage balance. NDs are able to provide counselling, resources and referrals to further support you in your healing and help you create sustainable changes for long-term results.

Natural Health Products (NHPs) are recommended on an individual basis to address a variety of health concerns, while considering safety and clinical value. Using appropriate dosing, NHPs provide supplementation of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, amino acids, and fatty acids. They may be used to address deficiencies or recommended for their clinical value as an alternative treatment option based on the most current scientific literature.

Botanical Medicine, also known as herbal medicine, is the practice of using plants and extracts for their medicinal properties to address and support a wide variety of health concerns. Herbs are selected on an individual basis and NDs consider safety, efficacy, relevancy, and potential interactions with medications or other herbs to ensure you are receive the best care possible. Fun fact - many conventional pharmaceutical drugs are derived from plants!

Acupuncture is a holistic and individualized treatment approach from Traditional Chinese Medicine that can be used to address numerous health concerns. In practice, thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body to encourage the movement and balance of Qi (vital energy). Dr. Jasmine uses acupuncture adjunctively to address  things like digestive issues, skin conditions, headaches, pain/rehabilitation, hormone and fertility support, arthritis, allergies, sleep and mood support, and stress management.

Cupping Therapy is a traditional practice of using suction cups to encourage circulation and lymphatic flow, release muscle and fascial tension, and support the immune system. Cups can be placed on the skin and either moved across it in a continuous motion, or kept in place. Cupping is useful in the treatment of headaches, muscle tension/pain, respiratory infections, fibromyalgia, stress management, anxiety, depression, and acute/sports-related injuries.

Hydrotherapy is the use of water in all its forms to stimulate healing throughout the body. It is useful in the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints, circulatory issues, digestive issues and stimulating the immune system, along with a variety of other applications when used safely and appropriately.  While not practiced in office, Dr. Jasmine will often prescribe various at-home techniques that are easy to implement in your self-care routine.

Dr. Jasmine offers high dose methylcobalamin (methylated B12) intramuscular injections to help her patients achieve optimal levels based on bloodwork. Intramuscular B12 can be helpful for those who need a boost of energy while waiting for supplementation to take effect, or in certain malabsorption conditions where supplementation is not an option. It should be noted that supplementation is equally effective as intramuscular injections if stomach acid levels are adequate for absorption in the small intestine.

Homeopathic Medicine is an energetic medical practice developed in the 1700s, based on the law of similars. Using the theory of “like cures like,” small energetically-diluted pellets may be recommended to stimulate the body’s natural healing system. Homeopathics are often recommended for children and during pregnancy, as it is able to address a number of concerns, while being a safe and gentle option for patients.
